Currently active in and around Bishoftu with Broiler parent farms, Layer parent farms, Hatchery, Broiler
farms, Rearing farms, Layer farms, Slaughterhouses, Pig farm, Butchery, Veterinary drug and
agrochemical products and services.
For our Chicken Slaughterhouse and Meat Processing Factory, we are looking for a Plant Manager. As
the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the full scope of managing and running the factory and
you ensure that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently.
De Heus is active in Ethiopia through a joint venture with Alema Farms. Alema Koudijs Feed Plc is the
largest producer of complete animal feed in Ethiopia. With over 15 years of experience in the market,
Alema Koudijs Feed is making a significant contribution to the development of the livestock and feed
sectors in Ethiopia.
What will your responsibilities be?
As the Plant Manager, you will be accountable for the chicken slaughterhouse as well as for the meat
processing factory. For both, you will manage all the regular day-to-day activities and will be
responsible for the planning of the production lines. Together with your team members, you will
ensure the quality and quantity of the production, achieve HACCP requirements and you will initiate
and develop new products and associated marketing strategies.

• estimating, negotiating, and agreeing on budgets and timescales with clients and managers
• ensuring that health and safety regulations are met
• determining quality control standards
• overseeing production processes
• re-negotiating timescales or schedules as necessary
• selecting, ordering, and purchasing materials
• organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
• liaising with buyers and marketing and sales staff
• supervising the work of junior staff
• organizing relevant training sessions
What do we expect from you?
• Bachelor’s degree or above required in operations management, Food Engineering, Food
Technology, or a related field
• Knowledge of meat processing operations is preferred
• Minimum 3 years of operational/manufacturing experience. The food industry in experience
is preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of legislative requirements – food safety, health and safety, and
employment legislation

• leadership and interpersonal skills
• Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and different cultures is
preferred.
• Fluency in English, and other foreign languages are an advantage.
